Loft conversion is the most cost effective way to maximise your floor area of your house or flat when compared to side/rear extension, which would require you to add new foundations and groundworks.
Converting a garage into a habitable space is also a great way to add value to your property. Why not convert your garage to create an extra room which makes the most of one of the under-used areas in your home, giving you added living, dining, sleeping or leisure space.

Many find that outbuilding are quite cost-effective and practical due to several factors such as limited space in the house but have plenty of space in the garden.
It is important to note that an outbuilding cannot be used as a self-contained accommodation such as a bedroom, kitchen or bathroom. If the purpose of an outbuilding is to accommodate people such as an elderly relative or use it as a holiday let, then planning permission would be required to change the use of the building otherwise it is not permitted under ‘Permitted Development Rights’ (alterations you can make without planning permission).
